Swimming ~by Ola

I love swimming, but I haven’t been able to go because of Covid-19 . My favourite thing to do when swimming is diving down and doing what I call an ‘ Underwater Backflip’. To do this, dip underneath the water and flip in a circle. Though if you don’t pinch your nose water goes up, which really hurts, it’s still really fun though! 🙂

One time, my sister and I collected pool mattresses, balanced on them like a surfboard and pushed each other around. It was really fun until I fell off in the deep end :(, luckily my dad was there in time to help me back up.

I once had a birthday party at the pool where there was a GIANT inflatable obstacle course, my dad took pictures of me and my friends jumping off and falling into the water. Did you know the top layer of water is not liquid, it’s solid (which is why you put your hand in first)?

The legend of Lego Excalibur

You might of heard of the creation of the ancient Excalibur, however this story is different because… it is made out of Lego (obviously) and it wasn’t created by the Lady of the Lake.  Instead I created it, without any help and my name Filip.

Once upon a rainy day, it was wet play and before I started making the holy sword, I made wolverines’ claws out of rulers, but it miserably failed. A few minutes passed and we were sent to the other classes.  One class took over the children with a movie while the other class had board games and many more. Most of the children were surrounding the pit of the LEGO.  I realised that I had no better thing to do so I decided to build something out of the Lego, as I get closer to the Lego pit I squeeze through the shell of children and take my old Lego ship from last wet break and I get an idea of Lego Excalibur.

The blade starts off as a dagger but more I worked on it more it grew. However my enemy  “The shiny keeper”(also known as my best friend in real life) was realising my great project so he started to collect shinny’s  (that are powerful artefacts)and started to create the “SHINY CANNON”. After I decided that the blade got long enough (44cm) I began to make the handle but the shinny keeper began to grow stronger  too. I began the handle with two wings to know were the handle and blade began or ended, I spend a few minutes making the handle, double handed, and so far I made it singular handed. Then another few minutes more I finally finish the handle, but I realized that the sword needs more support so I add long thin pieces (4×2) in the middle of the blade I also reinforce the handle the same way but less.

The Attack.

I finally finish Lego Excalibur and I raise it in all its glory and suddenly the shiny keeper attacks! I get my sword and body into a defensive position and the shiny keeper strikes with a over powering shiny death beam and while the beam is heading towards me at speed of light the shiny keeper has a victories smile but little does he know that his smile is going to turn upside down because Excalibur just absorbed the blast with no effect except from some steaming hot Lego were the shot hit. The Shiny keeper in shock asked “HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!” and I replied ”E!” and  I hit his cannon and sent him flying into space and harmony ruled the world.  But it was not the end of the shiny keeper…

Cheese Poem by Alphonsa

I am going to do a poem on cheese. Hope you enjoy!

Cheese

Cheese can be a tasty food

It makes me have a good mood

Rotten cheese can make you sick

But cheese and I both click

My friend doesn’t like cheese by itself

She doesn’t like the cheese trophy on my shelf

She said “I don’t like that disgusting thing!

I’d rather have a bee sting!”

I am very sad

This is really bad

My friend doesn’t like my favourite food

I think that is very rude!

Sexism In football

Our names are Martha and Kate. We love football as we can prove to people that girls can play the beautiful game as well.

Martha and I have both played for the school team together many times which gives us a real buzz. As we have both experienced sexism we really hate seeing girls not being included because of their gender; we always try to encourage everyone to be involved and try any new sport as our school motto says be kind, be brave and be involved. Our message to you is girls can play football.

If so make sure you encourage them as much as possible and make them feel good about themselves. Have you ever experienced any type of sexism in the past?

If so ignore it and stay true to who you are. Just because you are a girl doesn’t mean you have to like the colour pink or you can’t play football.

Have you ever been sexist to anyone?

If so don’t do it again as it can really hurt people and knock their confidence.

Do you know anyone who has had their confidence by sexism?

Martha and I both want to play for our country one day. We also want to make sure that everyone can be able to experience different sports no matter what their gender is.

Birthday~Sreya

My 10th birthday was on the 18th of March. Even though it was nearly in lockdown, I still really enjoyed it! It was on a school day so I had to wait till after school to open my presents and eat my cake.

When I got home I opened my presents from my family and I was really happy with what I got!  Only some people arrived.  (People who lived close.)  I had a chocolate cake covered white chocolate sprinkles. I blew out my candles. I was so happy, I could hardly wait until later until I could open the rest of my presents!

Sadly, the day was getting to an end and everyone left. But that’s ok because I had enjoyed it!

Basketball

One of the things we love is basketball! If you don’t know what basketball is, it’s a sport.

For example, you have a ball and a hoop to start with. Then you have to stay in position with the lines also called the “center line”.

Basketball is really fun when you know how to play. Once you finish practising, you can play with your friends! When you’re even more older, if you think that you are really good, you can even try go to clubs and train to become a professional player! We haven’t played basketball that much, but we do know chest pass, bounce pass and dribbling. There are also basketball players named Kobe Bryant (who recently died.) Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Here are some teams that play basketball, NBA, Boston Celtics. Philadelophia 76ers, Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls.

Do you think you know anymore?

5 Rules in Basketball ;

  • Only bounce the ball or dribble with one hand.. Or you can switch the ball hand to hand.
  • You can’t double dribble
  • You can’t hold the ball in your hands while travelling.
  • The ball must stay in the bounds
  • The player’s hand must be on the top of the ball

Do you think you will like this sport?

I got a dog!!

Getting a dog

Getting a dog has been the best bit of the school year so far. My dog is a Cocker Spaniel and her name is Luna but in school I have just loved seeing my friends in this pandemic. I am so happy that I’m not stuck in my house because it does get a little bit boring but I love playing FIFA 21. (I recommend it)

How our life is going this year…

Hello everyone! Our names are Olivia and Kyla and we’re both in Year 6. This year was not the year that we were expecting but it’s slowly changing… Everyone around the world has been doing many activities during lockdown and so have we; here are some of Olivia’s examples: dance lessons via Zoom, art-related activities and outdoor fitness. Here are some of Kyla’s examples: choir on Zoom, piano lessons, some art and other activities…What interesting things did you do during lockdown?

When lockdown happened, many people were devastated that they couldn’t see each other, go out somewhere or go to school. Since children needed more education, teachers thought of children doing their schoolwork at home. Have you been doing schoolwork at home during lockdown? Also, some children went to school instead of learning at home because their parents were key workers.

Have you been to a different country during lockdown? Olivia has been to Devon. However Kyla has only been to the shops. Although possible, it was very difficult to travel to a different country in lockdown due to planes not being available. Luckily people who were not travelling very far were able to go by train or car…

Right now things are almost back to normal despite having to wear masks in the shops and other places.  We can now go to school and have better education; people can go to work and some restaurants. Although it was hard, most people survived lockdown…
