THE LAKE DISTRICT

Ullswater, is by my opinion, is one of the best features the Lake District has to offer.

On the first day, I got quite a shock when dipping into a freezing cold lake at 9 in the evening, but after that, I felt like Bear Grylls! Nothing could stop me now.

At Ullswater there’s always an activity for you, mine personally was climbing a four hundred and eighty-one metre high mountain! I know, it sounds super tiring, but it was worth it. The views you can experience are incredible!

Although it’s a nine hour coach trip, when the week is over. You will appreciate the chance to be able to go gorge-walking, which is basically scaling a mini waterfall, and canoeing, because Ullswater is a place to make memories and learn, a chance to be in a place where you will never forget!

Ullswater and no Ullswater – Z and L

Person who went to Ullswater:

After waking up at 4:00 in the morning and driving to school, we got on the coach for a long 7 hour drive to Ullswater. When we finally got there we unpacked and met our instructors. We were split into different groups named after explorers: Mallory (my group), Tensing, Francis and Shackleton and from then the fun began. Some of the activities we did were: mountain climbing –  we climbed mount Galbough which had amazing views, gorge walking which was the best by far, canoeing over the foggy lake, tunnelling in dark holes while screaming with your friends and so much more! We were provided with lots of food which gave us energy for the day. They even gave us hot chocolate every night! Over all it was very fun and I will remember it forever. 🙂

Person who didn’t go to Ullswater

I didn’t go to Ullswater but here is what I did at school. On the first day, we sat outside the Year 4 classroom and we did activities like reading, cool maths games, ttrockstars and times tables grids in our free time (mostly cool maths games). We did some things like drawing comics and making board games based on the gun powder plot and others like measuring the weather in Norwich and comparing it to Ullswater. We also helped out in the younger years classrooms and made Christmas cards and I made a drawing of Ullswater. 🙂

Ullswater – By Zioni

Hi, my name is Zioni, today I’m going to tell you about my trip at Ullswater.

After a nine hour coach trip, we arrived at Ullswater, and I enjoyed every second at Ullswater. My favourite activity was gorge-walking. In gorge-walking, you walk in a gorge, which is like a river. This was my favourite activity because it was fun and challenging.

Another activity I really enjoyed was when we rowed to a forest and explored it, I really enjoyed this activity because we played lots of fun team building games.

One interesting thing that happened is that when we got on the boat to go back to the centre, the boat got stuck on a rock and we had to shift back and forth on the boat, then I (and a few other people) had to get off the boat. Then, the boat got unstuck! But, we were still off the boat, so they had to try and get back to the shore without getting stuck again, and thankfully, they did, but once we got on, we got stuck again! So a speed boat came to help us, but then, we were able to get unstuck by ourselves, so my group and the speed boat went back to the centre.

Overall, Ullswater was fantastic! The food was incredible, the dorms were great and I had a lovely time at Ullswater.

Ullswater by Lennon and Benjamin

Hello it’s Ben and Lennon and we are here to tell you about our trip to Ullswater. After we woke up at 4:00am, we got on the coach and drove for 6 hrs until we got to the centre, went to our dorms and made our bed which some people found easy  and some people found it hard. The food was amazing especially the waffles which had golden syrup and had a dusting of icing sugar. Examples of the activities we did are: Jog and Dip which you gradually walk into the freezing Lake Ullswater and you even had the chance to jump off the jetty, we also climbed a fell (which was very hard) . But overall it was a lifechanging experience of a lifetime.

ULLSWATER – Guinevere and Ingrid

Everyone who went to the Outward Bound Centre Ullswater has made many improvements to their characters and we will take back many memories.

After our 7 hour trip, we arrived feeling tired but very excited. Some of our favourite activities were gorge scrambling (climbing a small waterfall), jog and dip (running into a cold lake) and open air rock climbing with hard helmets and harnesses.

Before we went, we as a year group decided which dorms to sleep in. At the centre, they cater for all dietary requirement’s.

Over all, we all had a great time and really enjoyed everything.
