Learning and growing together in God's love.

Whitwell Hall by B and Elaina

Shelter building!

One of our favourite activities was shelter building.  Our group’s being quite good though we had to hold some bits together. When they poured a bucket of water on us, we got soaked. Luckily, we had raincoats on. The water was freezing!!!  Unluckily, they saw our weak points through our den.

Scavenger hunt

Another one of our favourites was the scavenger hunt. It was so exciting. We had to find red clips that were connected on trees and posts. Our group found seven out of ten, some of them were hard to find, while others were easy.

River dipping

Do you want to discover underwater creatures? Well, we do! In river dipping we do exactly this. Our group was amazing. At the start we couldn’t find anything except rocks and sand.  After a bit we found a crayfish and then after a bit another!  We named it John after the person who showed us river dipping. How we did it was we shuffled our feet in the sand to make the creatures buried underneath rise to the top of the sand. It sure worked!!

Fire lighting

Another activity that we did was fire lighting. It was so interesting to learn how to do it and our group’s fire was the winner based on height. We used a flint and steel to light it.

Once it was lit, we used sticks starting from pencil led to fat thumb to keep it going while it grew.

Dorms

In our dorms we had a lot of free time which was so much FUN!!! We were with all of our friends in an 8-bunk room. In our opinion it was just fabulous! We’d definitely recommend an 8-person dorm because it perfect. In the nights we had a great sleep too.

Food:

On the first night for dinner, we had lasagne, the second, Spaghetti Bolognese and the third a B&Q.

WHITWELL HALL BY TABBY AND TILLY

Hi everyone we are going to explain all about our adventure at Whitwell. So firstly we got to Whitwell Hall by coach and when we arrived we made sure we got all the bags inside. Then we met the lovely staff and John the person who looked after us and made sure we were safe talked to us about the food, activities, and showed us our dorm then we  knew where our bedrooms were.  We practiced a fire alarm drill.

Then we went to our dorms and made sure we unpacked our stuff like our toothbrushes and bedwear and our teddies.  The people in our dorm were M, T, A, M, M, P, P and K.  Then in the morning we woke up, got our clothes on, then went down for breakfast and we had 3 choices of, cereal, toast, orange juice and milk then we started our first activities.

The activities we did, throughout the week were bat walk, campfire, orienteering , river dipping , nature art, shelter building, boat building then boat race, bracelet making and more my favourite activities was river dipping because I loved the challenge when you had to roll over, jump in and loads of other stuff.  Warning it was chilly and Tilly’s favourite activity was shelter building because we got really wet and our den kept falling down and Tabby and Mary had to be human shields for this activity the best den was J,C’s den because no one got wet!

Then when our adventure ended we packed up said goodbye to the staff and then we had to be already to go by packing everything and making sure it was all neat and tidy and then we brought everything downstairs and then waited until the coach arrived. Then, we put everything onto there. Once we were all packed up and ready to go we jumped on the  coach and set off. Once we were back at school we got our stuff then waited for our parents to pick us up to go back home!

Whitwell Hall by Kacey and May

Whitwell was so fun! First we got off the coach and unpacked.  John and Paula were super nice when they introduced themselves and we knew it was going to be fun. They taught us the fire drill and showed us where our rooms were.

The activities that we did over the week were, Shelter building, Fire lighting, Boat building, Bracelet making, River dipping and Orienteering. In Orienteering M got chased by a sheep!!!!!

The food there was the best! We even got KitKats and Donuts for dessert.

We wish we could come back to Whitwell it was a truly amazing experience!
